The main purpose of the Honor Guard is to represent the Police Department and Office of the Chief at all functions as prescribed by the Chief. Ceremonious and Memorial functions are the primary tasking of the Honor Guard. The Guard tries to attend all fallen law enforcement funerals and functions in an effort to pay respect to those who have made the ultimate sacrifice.

Honor Guard members are officers who volunteer and are noted as those who take special pride and care of the police uniform as it relates to respecting the profession of police work and what the badge and uniform represent.

Annual events the Honor Guard participates in are Observance services for Veterans Day, Memorial Day, & Law Enforcement Memorial Day. They also participate in each of the City's annual parades, such as Martin Luther King, Greek Independence Day, and Christmas.

"When a police officer is killed, it's not an
agency that loses an officer, it's an entire
nation." -Chris Cosgriff, ODMP Founder
